Suicide bid outside N Chandrababu Naidu's house
Guntur: A man from Proddutur tried to commit suicide in front of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s house at Undavalli in Tadepalli mandal on Friday, after waiting for 10 days for redressal of his grievance by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Mr Gangula Srinvasulu Reddy had given Rs 5 lakh through one Padmanabham, a middleman, to Mr Nagireddy Keshava Reddy, the owner of the Keshava Reddy Schools, in 2012. Later, he had asked Keshava Reddy to return the money because he needed it for the treatment of his children, but the school owner had refused.
After a series of futile attempts, Mr Srinivasulu Reddy decided to seek the Chief Minister’s help. He had been trying, for the past 10 days, to meet with Mr Naidu, but in vain.
On Friday, he came to Karakatta along with family in order to try, once again, to meet with the CM, but the security did not grant him entry. He then tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide, but the guards foiled his plans.
Mr Srinivasulu Reddy said that he lived at Produttur with his wife Hymavathi, daughters Pawana Kumari and Tulasi, and son Venkata Suresh Reddy, and ran a small grocery shop to make a living.
He said that Keshava Reddy had taken Rs 5 lakh from him in exchange for a promissory note for the amount.
In 2014, his children Pawana Kumari and Suresh began having health problems; they were found to be suffering from heart-related ailments. Then, Mr Srinivasulu Reddy had asked Keshava Reddy to return the money.
