Hyderabad: With the continuous lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir even a month after Article 370 was revoked, the city based Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has indefinitely postponed its distance learning exams for students in J&K scheduled for September 14.
The University has around 5,000 students in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and several thousand of them are in J&K. P. F. Rahman, Incharge Director, Directorate of Distance Education at MANUU told Deccan Chronicle: “The exams have been postponed as the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not normal and the restrictions that were imposed when Article 370 was revoked have not been lifted by the government. We are not sure of the revised date as the situation is not in our hands. We can set a new date only after the restrictions are lifted.” There are thousands of students who have enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Jammu and Kashmir.
The directorate of distance education offers PG programmes such as MA Urdu, English, History and Islamic Studies, and UG programmes such as BA; BSc (BZC), BSc (MPC) and B Ed. There are also several other Diploma programmes.
