Leaders placed under house arrest; RTC bus services suspended in Kurnool and Nandyal
Kurnool: Following the arrest of Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu, several party leaders were placed under house arrest in Kurnool and Nandyal districts. Prominent party leaders, including Budda Rajasekhar Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya, Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, BC Janardhan Reddy, and others, were placed under preventive confinement.
Telugu Desam leaders claimed that a large number of police personnel from other districts were deployed, even during Friday night, and were shifted in the early hours to RK Function Hall in Nandyal, where Chandrababu Naidu was staying. Naidu had earlier planned to visit Srisailam to participate in a programme, but local leaders cancelled the visit. This made it easier for the police to take him into custody.
In response to the developments, second-line leaders of the party organized protests in various locations, including Nandyal town, Bandi Atmakur, Dhone, Kurnool, Adoni, Mantralayam, and others. Followers of Budda Rajasekhar Reddy held a protest in Bandi Atmakur following Naidu's arrest. Mallela Rajasekhar, TD president of Nandyal district, said that since the leaders were under house arrest, they planned limited protests in the morning and intended to take huge protests by the evening.
To prevent any damage to vehicles, the RTC suspended all 300 bus services in the region. RTC Regional Manager R. Venkata Ramudu informed that they sought approval from the deputy commissioner for suspending the services. Telugu Desam leader Rajasekhar also pointed out that the police caused disturbances by forcibly shifting vehicles belonging to the leaders, and deploying cranes and containers. In the process, many cars were damaged, he added.
