Hyderabad: Eighteen days after Hyderabad witnessed mini floods, 50 houses in Jeedimetla are still inundated because the outflow gate of Fox Sagar has been sealed. If the gate is opened, water which is at full tank level, could flood several alleged illegal apartments and a building that reportedly belongs to MP Ch. Malla Reddy.
Uma Maheswaranagar in Jeedimetla has about 400 families with valid pattas. Mr U. Mahesh, a resident facing inundation, said, “The maps with the irrigation department show that the area downstream of Fox Sagar has apartments and an educational institute run by the local MP.”
The issue came to light when United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations held a health camp in Uma Maheshwaranagar. Asked about it, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said the matter was with the HMDA. A HMDA lake protection committee official said that a team would inspect the site on Monday.
