Some Prime Minister has arrived: Bengaluru school boy

Traffic was being diverted away from Someshwara temple.

Bengaluru: British PM Theresa May was the cynosure of all eyes during her visit to Someshwara temple situated in Halasur area of Bengaluru city. Dressed in a golden colour saree, the British premier offered prayers at the temple.

Some roads were blocked, some off limits. Traffic was being diverted away from Someshwara temple. Burly policemen were seen shooing away curious onlookers.

“Some Prime Minister has arrived,” remarked a gleeful school boy. When this reporter informed him that it was Theresa May, the Prime Minister of Britain, and questioned him further, he replied, “I study in St. Josephs Indian School. I’m only here to catch a glimpse of the PM.”

The local shopkeepers did not seem too pleased, Ashwin who owns an electrical store in the area said, “Cops have been swarming all over the place since this morning.”

Keertana Mohan, a student of St. Annes Degree college and a resident of Halasuru said, “Lots of activity has been going on since Monday. There were a lot of people moving around the temple area last night probably preparing for Theresa May’s visit.”

When asked, a few cops in sitting in their van replied, “We have been here since early morning.” A cop, who saw this reporter chatting with the constables in the van, soon arrived and politely asked this reporter to leave.

A local flower seller who was forced to move away from her regular place near the temple whined and remarked, “I’ve nearly lost a whole day’s business. Police just did not let me get to my regular spot,” she said as she sat diagonally opposite Subramanya temple which is in the vicinity of the centuries old Someshwara Temple.
