TTD Seeks ASI Clarification on Renovation, Defends Actions Amid Criticism
TTD Executive Officer Hits Back at Critics Over Mandapam Renovation Controversy
Tirupati: Defending the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has approached the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to determine if the department’s permission is required for TTD to renovate the old mandapams in Tirumala and Tirupati.
This follows sharp criticism against TTD’s attempts to renovate these mandapams.
TTD executive officer AV Dharma Reddy said on Wednesday that the temple body would now wait for a word from ASI and act on that basis.
At a press conference here, the EO condemned the criticism from the opposition parties and others regarding the renovation of the Tirumala Paruveta Mandapam and plans to reconstruct the dilapidated Padala Mandapam at Alipiri.
