Alappuzha: Writer and college professor Deepa Nishant, who is at the centre of a controversy over plagiarism charges, faced the ire of ABVP and KSU activists at the venue of the school Kalolsavam here on Saturday. They protested against her in front of the corporation auditorium when she came there in the morning as a judge of the Malayalam essay writing competition. The police arrested the protestors and removed them from the venue.
Deepa said that she was qualified as a judge as per the youth festival manual. “Many people are taking advantage of the situation. The plagiarism controversy is a closed chapter,” she said. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala criticised Deepa’s involvement in the fest and said the credibility of the youth festival was in question due to that.
