Hyderabad: In the recent times, a number of city hostels has been multiplied and to regulate them the Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that no person shall run a private hostel or PG accommodation without registering it in the local police stations in Hyderabad. Keeping women’s safety in mind, the official set a few guidelines that are to be followed by the management of all hostels in the city, failing which the management might face jail time.
The commissioner said that there are no standard safety and security practices being followed in these private hostels and PGs. The rules established by the commissioner are as follows:
No person shall run the hostel without registering it in local police stations.
All the owners/managers/organisers of these places shall submit information on the existing safety and security practices to all local police stations within 30 days from the date of issuing this notification. All owners of these places shall collect Aadhaar card details of the inmates and shall maintain a register for it. The guidelines shall be followed strictly.
“The quality of CCTV cameras to be minimum 3 megapixel. Any abnormality/observations should be brought to the notice of the local police station immediately. The expiry date of fire extinguisher to be prominently displayed. All inmates and staff should be trained to operate the extinguishers.
Any person violating this order shall be liable for punishment under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC.
