Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission and Chief Electoral Officer of AP to file a status report on a PIL challenging the inaction of the election authorities in deleting alleged bogus voters from the lists published for the elections to Kadapa-Kurnool-Anantapur and Chittoor-Nellore-Prakasam districts graduates and teachers constituencies.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter was hearing a petition by Mr G. Obulu of the Rayalaseema Development Committee.
Mr A. Satya Prasad, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner, told the court that some candidates, who are even not matriculates were being enrolled as graduates in the voter lists. The bench sought the response of the authorities by Tuesday.
