New Delhi: G.K. Reddy Memorial Award for excellence in journalism for the year 2016 will be bestowed on eminent journalist and TV anchor Karan Thapar. Founder TSR Foundation and convenor Dr T. Subbarami Reddy stated that after detailed deliberations, it was unanimously decided to give GK Reddy Memorial Award 2016 for excellence in journalism to president of ITV, Karan Thapar.
The TSR Foundation award committee works under the chairmanship of Dr Karan Singh (MP) with members Anand Sharma (MP), Mrs Kantha G.K. Reddy and Dr T. Subbarami Reddy. The award carries a cash prize of '5 lakh, a gold medal and a special trophy. Mr Karan Thapar is the president of ITV which creates television content for several national and international channels.
AICC chief Sonia Gandhi will present the award to Thapar, while Dr Karan Singh, chairman of the award committee will preside over the function. GK Memorial has founded an award in the memory of distinguished and renowned journalist late GK Reddy. “Reddy's phenomenal conception and perception of political and diplomatic affairs are still living in the hearts of millions of admirers,” Mr Subba-rami Reddy said.
