Hyderabad: 3-year-old beaten at anganwadi, suffers fracture
Hyderabad: A three-year-old student an anganwadi centre in Yellareddyguda reportedly suffered a fracture on her right hand after being beaten by her teacher on Wednesday.
The parents of Chennuri Ruthika alleged that the ayah had dropped her at home without telling them what had happened. She only said that Ruthika was having fever and did not have lunch. Ruthika was attending the anganwadi centre for five months.
A few hours later, Ruthika’s mother noticed a swelling on her hand and took her to hospital, where doctors confirmed a fracture just above the right elbow.
Her father Mallesh a cab driver went to question the teacher Varalakshmi on Thursday.
“They were least bothered and replied rudely. At one time the teacher said she was not aware of what had happened and at another time she said one of the boys pushed the child,” he said. Officials from the woman and child welfare department who came to know about the incident conducted an inquiry.
“We are trying to talk to the child about what happened. She was scared and could not explain. We will conduct a detailed inquiry and file a report with the senior officials. Based on their instructions, we will proceed,” said Hyderabad incharge district welfare officer P. Ashritha.
