Israel firm looks to steal the show at Aero India

Israel Aerospace Industries will be one of the biggest attractions at the Aero India 2017.

Bengaluru: In the recent years, Indo-Israeli strategic partnership has reached a new level. Edging Russia from the top spot, Israel has become India's top arms supplier in recent times.

Israel Aerospace Industries will be one of the biggest attractions at the Aero India 2017. With India's growing strategic partnership with Israel, IAI hopes to grab eyeballs at the event. The IAI will present a wide variety of strategic defence systems with an emphasis on Medium Range Surface to Air Missiles/Long Range Surface to Air Missiles, in the loitering-munition category, featuring the low-cost Green Dragon, HARPY NG, HAROP, and for the first time in India -"Rotem" Multi-Rotor Loitering Munitions.

Moreover, a wide variety of unmanned aerial vehicles will be on display including the Heron Family and the Bird Eye STUAS, which enable a wide variety of intelligence gathering capabilities in various spheres of activity including cross-border surveillance.

Among the top exhibits of the IAI will be the IAI-ELTA's ELM-2090U UHF ULTRA Early Warning and long range search and track radars. These sophisticated radars are a family of transportable land-based radar systems designed to autonomously detect and simultaneously track dozens of Ballistic Missiles (BMs), satellites and airborne targets at very long ranges. The radar operates under all weather conditions and in the presence of dense electromagnetic environments.

Another head turner at the event will be the ELM-2052 radar. The system is an advanced Fire Control Radardesigned for air-to-air superiority and strike missions, based on fully solid-state Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA) technology, enabling the radar to achieve long detection ranges, high mission reliability and multi-target tracking capabilities.

‘Tejas’ to prove its mettle with 8 ‘G’ manoeuvers
Made-in-India 'Tejas' fighter jet will demonstrate its combat-readiness with the challenging and risky 8 "G" manoeuver during Aero India 2017 commencing on February 14.

This will be the first demonstration of this manoeuver after the fighter jets joined the IAF fleet as the new "Flying Daggers' 45" squadron in July 2016. Such a tight climb and turn are executed by fighter jets during combat, soon after firing an air-to-air missile. The 8 "G" manoeuver was one of the key operations mandated by the IAF for Final Operational Clearance (FOC) of 'Tejas.' The other key operation, air-to-air refueling too has been demonstrated, and a combat jet with the refueling probe, will debut at the air show, according to sources in Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
