T Nagar tops Namo Peravai's poll agenda
Coimbatore: It’s no more chai, instead Namo Peravai, a fan club of PM Narendra Modi, has gone the digital way to woo voters in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Assembly elections.
During the Parliamentary election, the Namo Peravai campaigned at tea shops, offered steaming, hot chai at subsidised price and wooed voters. But this time, the Namo Peravai feels chai won’t work in coffee bean and net crazy Tamil Nadu.
So, armed with a tab, members will soon visit door to door to show a five minute video on the achievements of Modi government and organise a ‘digital face to face’ campaign with BJP leaders to convince voters.
“As many as 300 screens will be placed in vital and crowd gathering places for BJP leaders to have a direct interaction with the public. This will prove to be a better platform for leaders to connect with the public as they will be able to reply to questions and issues raised by the viewers,” said Pravin Srinivasan, TN president of Namo Peravai.
“It will not be a brand Modi campaign this time, but the focus will be on taking forward the achievements of the BJP government. Our foot soldiers will make a door-to-door visit to explain public as what is in store for them, if BJP is voted to power. Our members will also be armed with a tab to show public a five minute video on the great strides made by the BJP,” he added. A constituency specific WhatsApp will also be created and all information pertaining to campaign details of the candidates, issues concerning the neighbourhood and other issues will be posted on it.
The Namo Peravai is planning to begin poll work soon in key constituencies considered to be strongholds of the saffron party. “We will choose to work in not more than 20 constituencies across Tamil Nadu. Topping on the list is T Nagar constituency in Chennai and Coimbatore South constituency,” said Pravin Srinivasan.
Around 8,000 registered members of the Peravai will also reach out to different segments of voters to study their demands and prepare a draft manifesto. “This will be supportive for the candidates to prepare themselves to address the issues of people in their constituency,” he said.
