SALEM: A day after the Supreme Court validated Ms. Hadiya’s marriage with the Muslim, Mr. Shafin Jahan, the 26-year-old homeopathy student applied for three days leave and left with her husband for her home state Kerala on Friday.
Hailing the Supreme Court’s verdict Ms. Hadiya, aka Akhila Ashokan, said, “I have applied for leave which is sanctioned. I will spend some quality time with my husband. I will return to college to continue my internship.”
A student of Bachelor in Homoepathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), after the break she will continue her house surgeon internship at the Sivaraj Homeopathic Medical College and Research Institute near Salem.
Ms. Hadiya was particularly happy that the apex court judgment validating her marriage came on a day when the world was celebrating the International Women’s Day.
A source from the college shared with DC that she has requested not to have police protection for now.
