Hyderabad: Pulse Polio drive faces opposition
Hyderabad: Auxillary nurse midwives (ANMs) creating awareness about Sunday’s Pulse Polio drive are noting resistance in areas around Nampally, Barkas and other places after the medication error led to the death of two infants.
The health department has asked supervisors to tackle difficult parents as they need compliance for the national immunisation programme. Senior paediatrician at Niloufer Hospital, Dr Narahari B. said, “It is very clear that there was a medication error due to tablets and not due to the vaccine. This has been clearly explained. In Pulse Polio programme there is no tablet given. The programme has been going on for 25 years.”
A health official said, “The sensitive areas are going to be monitored so that no children are missed out.”
