Vijayawada: Parties provide free transport for voters
Vijayawada: Mainstream political parties are offering free transportation to bring migrant voters for polling. The TD and YSR Congress which are in a “do or die” fight in most seats are targeting migrant voters. A few votes can change the fortunes of candidates in the election, hence mainstream political parties are counting every vote to win the elections. The TD is in the forefront in offering transportation and other facilities to migrant voters and has appointed second-rung leaders and activists to bring migrant voters. All APSRTC and private buses and trains are booked on April 10 to reach various areas of AP state from Hyderabad and other areas, hence candidates are offering cars, mini-vans and mini-buses to migrant voters to bring them for polling.
The total voters of 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh are 3.69 crores of whom fifteen to twenty percent are migrant voters.
According to reports, the TD and YSRC lost nearly 50 Assembly seats due to 1,000 to 5,000 votes in the 2014 elections.
