Sanitisation chambers set up to contain coronavirus spread in Kerala
Kochi: As part of intensifying measures to prevent coronavirus transmission, disinfection chambers are being set up in hospitals and government offices in Kerala.
The facility, which looks like a tunnel, installed at the entrance of buildings will disinfect the persons passing through it.
Non-irritant, diluted hydrogen peroxide is used to disinfect people.
Once a person enters the chamber, the automatic system will generate hydrogen peroxide fumes which will be sprayed on them.
The chemical fumes will sanitise the body surface, clothes and the things carried by the person walking through the chamber.
The decontaminating tunnels have already been set up in many government hospitals in the state.
A disinfection chamber was set up at Ernakulam district collectorate complex at a cost of Rs.35,000. The district administration is planning to set up more tunnels in different parts.
