Coimbatore: Three persons died and one escaped when the car in which they were travelling plunged into a stream at Masinagudi village bordering the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR).
According to police at Masinagudi, four persons including Nithin (28) and Rohit (27) hailing from Bengaluru and Abishek (27) and Naresh (28) of Ooty, were travelling in a car from Bengaluru to Ooty on Monday evening.
They stopped the car at Masinagudi for refreshments and at around 10 pm they began to travel up to Ooty. Soon, the speeding car plunged into the stream running along the Masinagudi-Ooty road. Naresh screamed for help. On hearing him, villagers nearby rescued them.
Nithin, Rohit and Abishek drowned in the accident and their bodies were fished out. It is said that the car rammed into a herd of wild boars crossing the road and plunged down the nearby stream at Masinagudi which is a tributary of the Moyar.
