Orientation workshop held on containing dog bites
Hyderabad: In light of the recent amendment and a notification of the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, the MA&UD department organised an orientation workshop for additional commissioners, GHMC officials, municipal commissioners and sanitation staff of 141 ULBs at the Institute of Engineers in Khairatabad here on Wednesday.
The workshop was endeaoured to provide a thorough understanding of the rules and their effective implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N Satyranarayana, CDMA, MAUD, said “The amended Rules provide procedures for dog-bite redressal and monitoring and implementation of an ABC programme. We want our officers to be aware of the law, so that they are equipped to execute programs in the larger interest of public health and safety.”
Special chief secretary (MAUD) Arvind Kumar encouraged the participants to understand the procedure of street dog population management, as laid down in law and asked them to actively prevent any actions and incidents that may be carried out in lieu of the ABC program.
The speakers included advocate Shreya Paropkari and general secretary, Animal Welfare Society Dr. Karnati Srinivasulu, who spoke about ABC Rules 2023 and a practical approach to control dogs.
