Portfolios allocated to Congress ministers in Pondy
Puducherry: Portfolios were formally allocated to the new Congress ministers in Puducherry late on Wednesday night. Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has been allocated home, planning and finance, flood control, port, law and all other subjects not allocated to any other ministers.
Lt Governor Kiran Bedi issued orders on Wednesday earmarking the portfolios to the Chief Minister and to other ministers of the six-member ministry here, under the powers conferred on her under the Business of the Government of Pondicherry (Allocation) Rules 1963 and in consultation with the Chief Minister. A. Namassivayam has been given public works, local administration, excise, town and country planning among others.
Shajahan has been earmarked revenue, industries and commerce, transport, forest, and minority affairs. Malladi Krishna Rao has been given tourism, civil aviation, health and family welfare, art and culture, fisheries and housing. M. Kandasamy has been allocated the portfolios of social welfare, woman and child development, Adi Dravida welfare, consumer affairs, co-operation, labour and employment. Kamalakannan has been given education, agriculture, electricity, and community development among others.
