Monsoon joy for Karnataka on Tuesday or Wednesday

The state is anxiously waiting for the monsoon with the water level at KRS dam at a mere 80.62 feet as against its capacity of 124.80 feet.

Mysuru: The monsoon could be here in a couple of days! With the South-West Monsoon hitting Kerala on Sunday, there is every possibility that it may enter Karnataka on Monday or Tuesday.

Near normal rainfall-97 per cent of the average- has been forecast by the Indian meteorological department, according to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre director Dr G.S. Srinivasreddy.

He however did not rule out the possibility of the monsoon getting delayed further in Karnataka because of a low pressure area which has formed over Lakshadweep and the Arabian Sea which could intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile the Kodagu district administration has taken all precautionary measures to tackle any monsoon emergency considering the landslides last year. Kodagu DC Ms Annies Kanmani Joy released an advisory bulletin on Sunday alerting people to take safety measures.
