Karnataka DySP MK Ganapati sucide: Who took the notes away?
Bengaluru: DySP M.K.Ganapati who had suicide on his mind, spoke for 55 minutes in all as the television cameras whirred on Wednesday. But between the time that M.K. Ganapati was at the TV studio and took his life later at the lodge in Madikeri, highly placed sources said that Ganapati spoke for 30 minutes off the record where he made many explosive charges against a retired government officer.
Sources said that during the interview, Ganapati reportedly only described him as "that person who runs the government..." But this part was not telecast by any of the channels. Sources close to the television channels said that the men who talked to Ganapati were all interrogated on Saturday by police.
The person, Ganapati alluded to is a retired officer who is still associated with the present dispensation. Ganapati told the journalists that after the former home minister refused to clear the file related to his promotion, he approached this retired officer. Ganapati claimed he had to meet this powerful officer twice and on both occasions, the officer asked for a bribe.
However, Ganapati said he did not pay the bribe, but his file was cleared anyway.
Journalists said he was carrying a bunch of papers which he claimed were "records" to substantiate his allegations, and took them with him when he left.
Adding to charges of a cover-up are questions on the whereabouts of these "records" as well as two pieces of paper that were on the table and can be seen in pictures that are being circulated next to his body, that have also gone missing.
When police and hotel staff saw the crime scene through the window, they saw two pieces of paper which they believed to be the suicide note.
Nobody knows what the papers are and where they have disappeared, sources said as speculation rages on whether the crime scene was sanitised even before the CID team landed at Madikeri.
