Telugu debutant wins best director
Sudhakar Reddy hails from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and has worked as a cinematographer in Telugu, Hindi and Marathi films.
Hyderabad: While Telugu filmdom did well at the National Awards, there was another reason to celebrate: A Telugu film-maker, Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, has won the National Award for Best Debut Director for the Marathi film Naal.
Sudhakar Reddy hails from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and has worked as a cinematographer in Telugu, Hindi and Marathi films.
He was the cinematographer for Sairat, the highest grossing Marathi film of all time, which won the National Award in 2016. He has a post-graduate diploma from the Film and Television Institute of India.
He has three films lined up, one of them starring Amitabh Bachchan and based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of the NGO Slum Soccer.
