Master plan to develop Tadadi as ecotourism spot: Minister M B Patil
Karwar: A master plan has been formulated to develop Tadadi in Uttara Kannada as a world-class ecotourism destination, said Minister for Infrastructure, Large and Medium Industries MB Patil. During a meeting with officials of the Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) and other departments, Patil reviewed the master plan formulated by iDeCK (Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Ltd.)
"Earlier, there were plans to transform Tadadi into a port which have been abandoned due to resistance from the local people. Now, the decision has been made to develop it into a tourism destination under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The project needs an approximate investment of Rs. 300 crore. To facilitate its all-encompassing growth, a distinct entity named 'Tadadi Eco Tourism Infrastructure Ltd.' will be formed," Patil asserted.
He added that the KSIIDC currently holds 1,419 acres of land, and an additional 400 acres will be transferred by the KPCL. An order has been issued to facilitate the necessary measures in this regard.
The proposed project envisions a state-of-the-art resort, 184 tree huts, 70 hotel rooms, an eco-friendly walking trail, a yoga center, paddle boats, suspended bridges, and skywalks, among other amenities.
The comprehensive venture will involve the solicitation of a worldwide bid.
Safeguarding the existing mangrove forests is also of paramount importance in the project's execution.
Patil highlighted that iDeCK meticulously conducted a comprehensive comparative analysis of various coastal tourism centers across the globe before finalizing the master plan.
KSIIDC will continue to serve as the nodal agency for the initiative. Patil emphasized that the necessary approvals will be expeditiously sought.
KSIIDC MD MR Ravi, ED Prakasha, and iDeCK CEO Jayakishan were present during the meeting.
