Another NEET student dies by suicide; Tamil Nadu netas up in arms against exam
Chennai: DMK President MK Stalin and PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss condoled the death of Vignesh, a medical college aspirant from Elanthankuzhi village in Ariyalur district who committed suicide due to mental agony reportedly caused by the pressures of preparing for the NEET.
Stalin, in a Facebook message, said "we have lost one more life on the altar of NEET" and appealed to the student community to face the challenges bravely.
Ramadoss said the boy belonging to a Most Backward Class (MBC) community had been preparing for NEET for the past two years. Last year, he scored 370 marks and was given admission in a private medical college, which he had to decline because his parents could not afford the fees.
Vignesh had scored 486 marks out of the total of 500 in his tenth class examination and 1006 out of 1200 in the Plus Two final examination, Ramadoss said, demanding the cancellation of NEET permanently. He said NEET was only helping private medical colleges to make money.
