Relief to Minister Srinivas Goud - HC dismissed the EP against him

Hyderabad: In a relief to minister V. Srinivas Goud, the Telangana High Court on Tuesday dismissed the election petition filed against his victory in the 2018 Assembly election from Mahbubnagar. Goud had suppressed data about his spouse’s properties and her bank loans in his election affidavit. loans availed by her from the banks, petitioner Ch. Ragavendra Raju had stated.

Raju said Goud had manipulated the affidavit with the connivance with the returning officers. He claimed that Goud had filed affidavits, dated November 14 and 19, 2018, and another on a separate date in collusion with the returning officers. Goud replaced the affidavit dated 14-11-2018 in violation of the Representation of People’s Act, Raju said.

Justice M. Laxman said that the petition was devoid of facts and the petitioner failed to submit evidence to prove his allegations against Goud.

The election petition was filed in 2019 and was heard regularly recently. The judge had reserved judgment last week, after conclusion of the arguments from both sides. The court had appointed an advocate commissioner to record the evidence.
