NCC fined for medical lists scam
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed the NCC Directorate to pay a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to each of the petitioners for playing havoc with the system of according priority to students seeking admission into medical courses under the NCC quota.
A division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice J. Uma Devi was allowing a batch of writ petitions filed by applicants for admission to professional medical and dental courses for 2018-19. They had challenged the manner in which priorities were accorded to them, altering the system that was previously followed.
Earlier, two petitioners had moved the High Court questioning the different parameters fixed in the matter of according priorities to NCC cadets. The court had then directed that the AP and TS governments follow the same (Priority-II-(f)) as adopted by the TS government in GO Ms. No. 14, dated June 9, 2017.
The current batch of petitioners complained that after the court order the revision of the list resulted in those who had a higher standing being moved down the scale.
