Jishnu death case: KTU statement has official claim fall flat

Jishnu told me that authorities had banned him from writing exams: Student.

Thrissur: The statement of KTU officials that there was no official intimation about Jishnu committing malpractice has the argument of college authorities justifying their part falling flat on the face, say his relatives and friends.

“They have not yet clarified their version of his suicide. They told us that he was caught copying, but when I inquired about details, its trustee P. P. Krishnadas could not give a proper answer,” said his relative Sreejith.

Even though students want to remain anonymous to the press, they would tell about the alleged torture he was subjected to by invigilator C. Praveen and others by claiming he tried to copy an equation from the answer sheet of the candidate sitting next to him. “Jishnu told me that authorities had banned him from writing exams and had made him strike off answers written on the exam sheet. They also made him write a letter citing that he himself had done that,” a student at the hostel told reporters.

“The injury in his face needs to be inquired into in detail as the authorities, especially PRO Sanjith Viswanath, are notorious for beating up students inside the so-called ‘torture cell’ even by keeping pointed plugs of the mobile chargers in between their fingers while punching students,” SFI area secretary Sarath Chandran K. claimed.
