Let me work as per Constitution: V Narayanasamy
Chennai: Amid a tug of war on who calls the shots in the tiny Union Territory of Puducherry, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday subtly told Lt Governor Kiran Bedi to let him work according to the Constitution.
“There are established rules to run the government. I don’t disturb anybody and I don’t want to be disturbed by anybody. If everybody follows the rule book, then there is no difficulty,” Mr Narayanasamy said, while maintaining that the Constitution has specified the powers of the Chief Minister and Lt Governor of a Union Territory.
Refusing to discuss the showdown between him and Ms Bedi, who last week cancelled an official order issued by his government restricting officials to use social media, Mr Narayanasamy said it was not proper for him to discuss
“official matters” in public forum.
“If somebody tries to provoke me, they will never succeed. I will never get provoked,” Mr Narayanasamy said, while prodded further to explain his differences with the Lt. Governor.
“I always take things in right spirit because I am always in high spirits,” the former Union Minister told the ‘India Today south conclave” here. Replying to query about the Centre’s push for making Puducherry as the model state for cashless transactions, Narayanasamy admitted that there were differences between the home ministry and the Puducherry government.
