Hyderabad: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has written to the Hyderabad district magistrate against Leela Bai Motilal Tondawale High School in the city on accusations that it was collecting excess fee in the name of building fund but illegally transferring the money to another bank account.
NCPCR initiated action against the private school following a complaint by social activist Akshay Kumar, who stated that he has filed an RTI on the school. The activist said, “The Leela Bai High School is not following norms stipulated under GO No. 1, as there are no sanitation facilities. It does not have the required No Objection certificates from fire department and the municipal corporation. Also, it is collecting funds for buildings.”
He recounted that he got to know about the Rs 60 being charged from each student as building fund. “It is a criminal conspiracy, as they have two bank accounts. One is in Punjab National Bank, which is the official one listed with the District Education Office (DEO), and the other is at Agrasen Cooperative Bank, which has no approval from the DEO.” The commission asked the Hyderabad district magistrate to enquire into the matter and submit a report by January 23.
