MILAN 24: Indian Navy Gears Up for Spectacular Maritime Showcase

Visakhapatnam hosts multinational naval exercise, strengthening regional and global partnerships.

Visakhapatnam: Get ready for an awe-inspiring display of maritime might! The Indian Navy is all set to host the 12th edition of the MILAN multinational naval exercise, taking place in Visakhapatnam from February 19 to 27, 2024.

Building on the success of its "Camaraderie-Cohesion-Collaboration" themed predecessor in 2022, MILAN 24 continues to embody India's "Look East" policy, fostering closer ties with regional and international partners. While it began with just four nations - Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand - it has blossomed into a robust, multinational forum for maritime cooperation.

This year's shift to Visakhapatnam, a crucial naval base, reflects the exercise's growing stature and need for a larger platform. MILAN 24 promises a packed schedule, divided into two key phases:

Harbour Phase: Dive into a vibrant mix of events like the International Maritime Seminar, a captivating City Parade, a fascinating Tech Exhibition, and thrilling sporting activities. These aim to not only forge deeper understanding but also build lasting bonds among participating nations.

Sea Phase: Buckle up for the pièce de résistance! Witness a stunning showcase of maritime prowess as warships, aircraft carriers, submarines, and aircraft from various countries engage in large-scale maneuvers and strategic operations. From anti-submarine warfare to surface combat drills, the seas will come alive with tactical demonstrations of skill and power.

But MILAN's significance transcends a mere exercise. It serves as a powerful symbol of India's commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation and ensuring regional security. By bringing together diverse naval forces under a common banner, MILAN 24 fosters greater understanding, collaboration, and ultimately, a more peaceful and stable maritime environment.
