Siachen miracle: Braveheart Lance Naik Hanamanthappa still very critical

Doctors from the AIIMS also visited the Army R&R Hospital for assistance.

New Delhi: The condition of braveheart Lance Naik Hanamanthappa, who was trapped for six days at the Siachen Glacier under 35 ft of ice before being rescued on Monday night, further deteriorated on Wednesday evening while still remaining extremely critical.

He has brain damage including evidence of oxygen deprivation to the brain, pneumonia in both lungs, and multi-organ failure, including damage to both kidneys, thereby rendering the chances of his survival extremely bleak.

There were also some reports that people had offered to donate their kidney to the brave soldier in order to save him. Doctors from the AIIMS also visited the Army R&R Hospital for assistance.

UP Woman offers to donate kidney

A housewife on Wednesday offered to donate a kidney to Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, who is battling for life after being rescued from Siachen Glacier.

Nidhi Pandey, who lives in Padaria Tula village, about 50 km away from here, said she was sad to know about the soldier’s condition who clung to life after being buried for six days under 30 feet of snow following an avalanche hitting his post at the glacier.

“It was being broadcast in the news channels that his condition is extremely critical as his liver and kidneys are not functioning properly,” she said, adding that she felt that something more should be done for the soldier.
