Chemistry paper to be sent from Dharwad
HUBBALLI: Following a public outcry after Pre-University Chemistry question paper got leaked twice, the government has for the first time chosen Dharwad, instead of Bengaluru, to dispatch the new set of question papers to all 30 districts in the state.
The question papers were brought to Dharwad from Nashik in Maharashtra on Sunday evening, after it was printed there amid tight security. The papers will be dispatched early Monday to all exam centres across the state, as the reexamination is scheduled for April 12, Tuesday. PU Board officials are closely supervising the transportation of the papers to avoid any more untoward incidents.
Security has been beefed up at the Dharwad district treasury building, where the question papers were kept. The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders within 200-metre radius of the building as a precautionary measure. As many as 30 trucks arrived at the venue to carry the question papers to centres like Bengaluru, Bidar and Mangaluru.
The PU Board used to dispatch question papers every year from Bengaluru to all examination centres in the state. However, following the recent leaks and the unearthing of a network behind the crime has prompted the officials to adopt greater precaution. Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Cholan, several tahsildars, police and PU Board officials were present at the treasury office.
