Bengaluru: Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George, who inspected major developmental works in the city, gave a stern warning to officials and contractors to speed up the works and complete them soon. Mr George, accompanied by Mayor G. Padmavathi and BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad, started his inspection at Okalipuram early in the morning. Here an eight-lane flyover is being built at a cost of Rs 102 crore in association with the Railways.
Okalipuram flyover to open by December-end
Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundurao, who accompanied Mr George, insisted that the minister should direct the officials to finish the project, which has been dragging for long. Officials said that it would be completed by December-end.
Chord Road signal-free corridor by March
Mr George later inspected the West of Chord Road signal-free corridor project accompanied by BJP MLA Suresh Kumar, who complained that the work is getting delayed. Mr George issued a strict warning to the contractor and officials. They assured him that the works would be completed by March next.
Vivekananda College underpass by May
A 241 metre-long underpass, being built at a cost of Rs 29.75 crore, near Vivekananda College on Dr Rajkumar Road will be ready by May-end, Mr George said after the inspection. He said that the problem over acquisition of land for the construction of an underpass near Rajkumar Memorial, which has been taken up at a cost of Rs 48 crore, has been resolved as the BDA has agreed to give 50 percent compensation to the landowners in the form of cash and another 50 percent in the form of land.
Signal Free Corridor: West of Chord Road
Two flyovers at Basaveshwara 1st Main Road and Manjunath Nagar Main Road and one integrated underpass connecting Shivanagar 1st Main and 8th Main.
