Mecca Masjid bomb blast verdict on April 16

Nine persons were killed and 58 persons injured in the blast reported at the historic Mecca Masjid on May 18, 2007.

Hyderabad: The judgment in the 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blast case is expected to be pronounced on April 16 by the fourth additional metropolitan sessions judge cum special court for NIA cases, which is hearing the case.

Nine persons were killed and 58 persons injured in the blast reported at the historic Mecca Masjid on May 18, 2007.

Initially, the Hussaini Alam police had registered a case and later transferred it to the CBI. The National Investigation Agency de-registered the case and re-registered it on April 2011 at NIA police station, New Delhi.

Ten persons allegedly belonging to right wing organisations are accused in the case. The CBI in 2010 and later the NIA filed three supplementary chargesheets in the case.

Amongst those arrested by the CBI are Devendra Gupta, Lokesh Sharma alias Ajay Tiwari, Nabak-umar Sarkar alias Swamy Assemanand, Bharat Mohanlal Rateswar, Rajendhra Chowdhary alias Dasarth.
