HC gave relief to student, allegedly named as 10th class Hindi paper leakage case
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday gave relief to an SSC student whose result was not declared on Wednesday and was instead marked ‘malpractice’. The police claims that he gave the SSC Hindi question paper to a person who had approached him at the exam centre at the ZPHS Government school at Kamalapur in Hanamkonda district, thus kicking off leakage of the paper.
The High Court directed the SSC Board to take the supplementary exam fee from the student and allow him to write the exams that he had missed out, which are scheduled in June. Deccan Chronicle is not naming the student as he is a minor.
The headmaster of the school where the examination centre was located had debarred him from writing exams after the Hindi paper leak case broke and the police booked BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar as first accused in the case.
The headmaster had also taken the student’s hall ticket and debarred him from attending SSC exams for four years.
The student’s father had approached the High Court at that time, seeking a direction to the authorities to allow his son to write exams. He submitted that a person who his son did not know had take a picture of the question paper. His son had mistaken the person to be an exam squad member because that no person would be allowed into the exam hall with a mobile phone.
The petitioner had submitted that his son was made a scapegoat due to political rivalry. The High Court on April 8 had allowed his petition and directed the SSC Board to allow the student to write the remaining exams. The court had also observed that the proceedings against the student did not fall within the definition of malpractice and unfair means. Harish subsequently wrote the remaining papers, except the two held on April 5 and 8.
On Thursday, after the student was marked for ‘malpractice,’ the student’s father again approached the High Court and sought a direction to the SSC Board to allow his son to write the supplementary exams. He also mentioned that unless the exam result were announced, the supplementary examination fee would not be taken, and the last date for submitting the fee is May 26.
The vacation court headed by Justice Mummineni Sudheer Kumar heard the petition and directed the authorities to allow the student to write the supplementary exams of the subjects which he could not write in April.
