Andhra Pradesh: Over 50K to get land deeds in Guntur, NTR districts

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday directed municipal administration and urban development officials to immediately complete the setting up of necessary infrastructure for the construction of houses for the needy in Guntur and NTR districts.

Reviewing the government’s free housing plot scheme Pedalandariki Illu-Navaratnalu at his Tadepalli camp office on Thursday, the Chief minister said land deeds will be given to 50,004 people across 1,402.58 acres in 21 layouts.

For their part, the officials apprised the Chief Minister that steps were being taken in this regard and that of the 21 layouts, 10 are for Guntur beneficiaries and 11 for NTR district beneficiaries.

Officials said that currently, forest clearance has been obtained and land-levelling works completed, paving the way for laying internal gravel roads. They said work on laying 180 kilometres of roads will be taken up shortly.

Moving their focus to other works, the officials told Chief Minister that the construction of an additional building on the High Court premises is nearing completion. The building, with an area of 76,300 square feet, will house 14 court halls.

The CITIIS (City Investments To Innovate, Integrate and Sustain) project also found a mention in the meeting, with officials saying that the works under the programme are being expedited in 12 urban areas.

Elaborating on it, officials said that 1.39 lakh TIDCO houses, against the target of 1.5 lakh under Phase-1, have been completed and 51,564 houses have been handed over to beneficiaries in 30 areas. They said the remaining houses will be given to beneficiaries by June and another 1,12,092 houses under Phase-2 will be allotted to beneficiaries between September and December.

Comprehensive arrangements are being made for the Chief Minister to distribute 8,192 TIDCO houses in Gudivada in the first week of June, they said.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also directed officials to pay special attention to cleanliness at Vizag beaches.

“Special machines required for this should be made available on the beach to remove the waste and improve tourism. Apart from that, the officials should beautify the riverbed near the retaining wall built to save the Krishna River from the threat of flooding in Vijayawada,” he said.

While officials said that beautification of the riverbed was underway, including work on a walking track, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the same after reviewing documents in this regard.

MA&UD minister Audimulapu Suresh, Chief Secretary Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (municipal administration) Y. Sri Lakshmi, APTIDCO MD Ch. Sridhar, APCRDA commissioner Vivek Yadav, Swachh Andhra Corporation MD P. Basanth Kumar, Vijayawada municipal commissioner Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, resurvey project special officer Subba Rao and MEPMA MD Vijayalakshmi, among others, took part in the meeting.
