Violators shall be liable to pay such fines as specified under bye-laws of ULB, said GHMC commissioner Janardhan Reddy.

Hyderabad: From 40 microns, the GHMC has enhanced the plastic ban to 50 microns.

Stating that the civic body would severely deal with violators, the Hyderabad mayor said on Friday, “It has also been observed that these plastic bags are being thrown in open nalas. Those organising events in open spaces that involves food or multilayered packaging will have to segregate and manage the waste generated in accordance with MSW Rules 2000, said GHMC authorities.

"Every plastic bag manufacturing unit must register with the GHMC and pay the Plastic Waste Management fee as prescribed by the Urban Local Body. Registered shops will have to display at prominent places that plastic carry bags will given on payment. Only registered shopkeepers / street vendors shall be eligible to provide plastic carry bags.

Commercial establishments shall not sell or provide commodities to consumer in carry bags or plastic sheets or multilayered packaging which are not manufactured and labeled or marked, as prescribed in these rules. Violators shall be liable to pay such fines as specified under bye-laws of ULB,” said GHMC commissioner Janardhan Reddy.
