Hyderabad: The education department will be cracking the whip against private schools that sport prefixes or suffixes such as ‘techno‘, ‘concept’ ‘IIT Olympiad’ ‘e-Shastra’ before their actual names. All district education officers have been given instructions to make field visits and remove display boards that violate the rules.
“After the government issued the very same directions last year, a few schools modified their names. But some continue to violate the rule. Such schools will be identified and if needed, action will be taken against managements,” education wing officials said.
Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts have several schools sporting fancy names and the onus lies on the education departments of both districts to take suitable action. A group has even filed a petition on the issue before the State Human Rights Commission.
Government guidelines say schools not to have any prefixes or suffixes before their names.
