Two new districts will hit Karimnagar's pilgrimage

The ancient Sri Anjaneya Swamy Devasthanam, situated on a hillock near Kondagattu village is in Mallial mandal.

Karimnagar: Creation of new districts, Jagtial and Sircilla, will certainly take a toll on Karimnagar district’s pilgrimage tourism. The district is studded with multiple ancient shrines built from the period of the Chalukyas. But, all of the temples will soon become a part of the proposed new districts, affecting this category of tourism and identity of Karimnagar. However, heritage tourism can be promoted in order to compensate this loss.

Karimnagar district has been the most-sought as a spiritual destination for tourists of several states, thanks to presence of many magnificent temples.

The historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam (SRRD), constructed in 1083 AD, of Vemulawada, is regarded as Dakshina Kasi. It is a celebrated abode of Lord Shiva.

The ancient Sri Anjaneya Swamy Devasthanam, situated on a hillock near Kondagattu village is in Mallial mandal. It is one of the major shrines of Lord Hanuman in Telangana. Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam of Dharmapuri can be found on the banks of Godavari which flows here from north to south. This has been a major pilgrimage centre from the time immemorial.
