AP: Van falls into valley near Chintur, 5 pilgrims heading to Bhadrachalam injured

KAKINADA: A van carrying 12 pilgrims including four children fell 150 feet down into a valley between Chinturu-Maredumilli Ghat road on Sunday. Five of them were injured in the accident.

Mothugudem police said the accident took place as the steering wheel of the van got locked.

Some of the pilgrims managed to reach the upper road and called 108 ambulance which took the injured persons to the Chinturu Government Hospital. After first aid, they were shifted to Rampachodavaram Area Hospital.

Mothugudem incharge sub-inspector Dumpala Srinivasa Rao said that the
pilgrims were on way to Bhadrachalam from Marturu of Anakapalli district when
the accident took place. Mothugudem police registered a case. Chinturu SI D.
Srinivasa Rao is investigating the case.
