Lucknow: Twenty ‘kanwariyas’ were injured on Friday when the tempo they were travelling in fell into a ditch after hitting a truck in Binawar area in Badaun district. The kanwariyas were returning home after offering Ganga jal at Shiva temples. The mishap took place in the wee hours of Friday. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, where their condition is said to be stable. Meanwhile, tension prevailed in the area after the mishap as other ‘kanwariyas’ moving on Badaun-Bareilly highway went on the rampage and set the truck involved in the accident on fire.
Meanwhile, Bulandshahr police, on Friday, said they have arrested six alleged kanwariyas, including the main accused Pappu, in connection of the attack on a police van two days ago. Bulandshahr SSP Krishna B Singh claimed that the six men had reportedly disguised themselves as kanwariyas to settle scores with one Dipu with whom they had a dispute.
