After 3 years, Rs 2.4 crore Basar project waits

After the NDA government came to power at the Centre, it stopped funding all ongoing tourism projects.

Hyderabad: The proposed sound and light show and multimedia at the Basar temple is held up for three years for Rs 2.44 crore.

The UPA government had sanctioned many tourism projects for united AP. After bifurcation, the TS government took over the sound and light show and multimedia project at the Basar temple of Adilabad district.

Through competitive bidding in 2014, the project was awarded to Bengaluru-based BNA Technology Consultants. After the NDA government came to power at the Centre, it stopped funding all ongoing tourism projects.

The cost of the Basar project was Rs 2.44 crore and BNA Tech supplied Rs 1.2 crore worth material.

After the Centre refused to provide funds, the state too did not release the small sum of money to complete the project.

Recently BNA Consultants in a letter to the state government said they were not in a position to complete the project till funds are released. Though the matter was brought to the notice of the government, no decision is forthcoming.

The project was entrusted to BNA Tech by the TS Tourism Development Corporation. The officials said that they would take up the matter with the government to secure the release of funds.
