Bharat Bandh: Good response in Mysuru

In Mandya, Congress leaders staged a protest by forming a human chain and burning the effigy of Mr Modi.

Mysuru: Congress MLA Tanveer Sait joined AICC secretary Vishnunathan for a tonga ride through Mysuru’s roads and rode a bicycle with former MLA Vasu to protest the rising price of petrol and diesel during Monday’s bandh which received a good response in the district. District Congress president B J Vijaykumar took out a processs while playing the thamate, a percussion instrument and JD(S) party workers protested by pulling a cart carrying a gas cylinder. Activists of the Samagra Karnataka Rakshana Vedike auctioned two wheelers for Re 1, Rs 2 and Rs 3 and owners and drivers of a travel agents association marked their protest by pulling a car with a rope.

The response to the bandh was mixed in Chamarajnagar, where Congress party workers held a bike rally and appealed to shop owners to down their shutters. But in Gundlupet, a few owners and workers of petrol bunks protested against the bandh, wearing a mask of Prime Minister Modi.

In Mandya, Congress leaders staged a protest by forming a human chain and burning the effigy of Mr Modi. But the owner of a bakery here distributed badam milk free of cost to his customers from 11am to 2pm to oppose the bandh.
In Kodagu, which is only now limping back to normalcy, Congress and JD(S) workers took out a procession and submited a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
