NIEPA has announced initiative to celebrate leadership
HYDERABAD: In an attempt to recognise the quality of leadership in schools, the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) has announced an initiative called ‘Celebrating School Leadership.’ NIEPA has invited education officers, teachers, administrators, NGOs, researchers and academic institutes to write about good schools in the government system and their transformational journey and leadership practices.
According to the NIEPA, the key purpose of this initiative is to recognise the ecosystem that transforms the quality of the teaching-learning experience. Stake holders are expected to submit case studies with pictures and videos of the school. The best 100 schools and their leadership would be certified as centres of excellence by the National Centre of School Leadership (NCSL) and NIEPA. The 10 best heads of schools, clusters, block and district heads would be given a chance to do a fellowship with NCSL.
The case study will be thoroughly reviewed by a committee formulated by NCSL, NIEPA, following which schools would invite university departments, SCERTS and DIETS to visit selected schools from each state.
The case studies should further highlight the teaching learning process, community participation, the overall school organization, the inter-personal relationships in and outside the schools, innovations, team work and the use of technology for school development. Principal Latha Devi Karri said, “Recognition is always sought for any work. When the mentors are truly valued it gives gigantic energy to move ahead innovatively.”
