Hyderabad: Missing manholes lead to sewerage overflow
Hyderabad: Sewage overflow is causing great inconvenience to residents at Nectar Gardens, near Madhapur. The TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has reportedly laid roads without marking the manholes.
The GHMC has been trying to find the manholes for a long time but in vain. This has led to repeated overflowing of sewage from nearby apartments.
A Twitter user who goes by the ID HereizLikith, said, “I complained about the drain water collecting on the roads last month through Twitter. But I found out today that the water is leaking from the CPR Brindavanam Apartment on to the road.” According to a GHMC official, as the corporation couldn’t identify the manholes, they have not been able to clean them and unclog the drains. They have been able to identify just one manhole and they have been cleaning it regularly but it is not enough.
The other manholes continue to remain untraceable.GHMC engineers inspected the site on Friday to chalk out a permanent solution.
An official said, “If the drains are not unclogged, the drain water will reverse and enter their kitchens and sinks. We will be removing the silt from the available manhole and will insert a pipe inlet to reverse the flow. This will fix the issue. The work will be completed on Sunday.”
