HC expresses anger over illegal detention of man for long
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court expressed anger against two police officers working as CI and SI at Vedayapalem in Nellore district on the detention of a person booked on charges of cheating for a long time and said that it was a violation of human rights here on Friday.
A man identified as Vadlapalli Vijay Kumar was detained by the Vedayapalem police on charges of cheating on October 25, and a case was booked against him on November 8.
His wife Vijaya filed a habeas corpus petition in court and even submitted a photograph of her husband in the detention of the police. In her plea, she said that even as she and her children were visiting the police station regularly with a request to give details about her husband, there was no response from the police.
The court asked why the man who was arrested on charges of cheating was detained for so long, expressed anger over it. The court asked the petitioner to approach an appropriate forum to seek action against the police and also to get relief.
