Telangana: CCTVs to keep Vigil on office of registration offices

The number of irregularities taking place in these offices has been increasing after the reorganisation of districts in the state.

Warangal: The state government’s initiative to remodel registration offices installing CCTV cameras and latest equipment for continuous checking is being welcomed by everyone. The number of irregularities taking place in these offices has been increasing after the reorganisation of districts in the state. Cost of land has been rising. Greedy realtors and local politicians are eager to grab any piece of land in a vulnerable condition. Their target often is property of poor people that is encroached and with the help of some people in the registration offices, fake documents are created.

Recently, a dispute over registration of a government land led to a rift between Jangaon district collector A.S. Devasena and local MLA M. Yadagiri Reddy regarding a land in Bathukamma Kunta. The collector insists that the MLA registered the land against his name using illegal means but the MLA denies it. The issue was also taken to the CM’s office. Though no action has been taken against anyone in this matter, several such incidents bring to light loopholes in the registration process of land.

Questions over the credibility of registration system have been lingering in the minds of public. Several such incidents take place every day where innocent common people are at a loss. The government started installing CCTV cameras in all the registration offices. This is bringing a sense of a security to the people. If this initiative is executed properly, the chances of irregularities in the registration office are expected to come down. In addition, the offices are also set to go through a major IT overhaul. The remodeling is expected to be completed by January. In Jangaon district headquarters, every day 30 to 40 land registrations are done. The sub-registrar offices in Jangaon, Kodakandla and Station Ghanpur are set to be spruced up.
