TD failed to do Gundlakamma dam repairs, says Rambabu

Vijayawada: Water Resources Minister Ambati Rambabu has said damage and loss of lives were averted by the state government's preventive measures against the severe cyclone Michaung.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, the minister said TD chief Chandrababu Naidu was having a habit of politicizing every crisis for his own benefit. Under this, Naidu along with Telugu Desam media were splashing mud on chief minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy. “Jagan does not know ‘show off’ like Chandrababu,” he said.

The minister said Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan should realize that people who came to his meetings were not his voters, which was evident in Telangana.

He said the TD and Jana Sena should give an explanation why they didn't contest together in Telangana and why they planned to contest together in AP.

“CM Jagan has given more compensation for cyclone victims now than what Naidu gave during the typhoon. “Chandrababu had a habit of saying agriculture is waste but CM Jagan is working to solve the issues of the farmers.”

“Dr YSR has laid the foundation for new projects in AP and CM Jagan wants to complete these. Jagan Reddy has completed the Owk tunnel that was pending for a long time. The Veligonda tunnel would be completed soon,” he said.

Minister Rambabu said the plight of Gundlakamma reservoir was due to the laziness of the previous Telugu Desam government. Officials had suggested that Gundlakamma reservoir repairs be done during the TD government’s term. But, even after spending Rs 5 crore, the TD government did not do the repairs properly.
