CM is point man, says Venkaiah Naidu
Chennai: Post-Jayalalithaa, the BJP appears to favour dual leadership in the AIADMK but it is not sure “how long or how smooth” the new arrangement of two people — O Panneerselvam and V.K. Sasikala — handling the posts of Chief Minister and party chief would continue since it depends on how well the two leaders coordinate and function.
While contending dual leadership is “good in a way”, Union Urban Development and Information & Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu recalled how the BJP ran a successful coalition government at the Centre during 1998-2004 with “excellent coordination” between the then Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and himself as the party's national president.
In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, the senior BJP leader made it clear that the Union Government's only point of contact in Tamil Nadu would be O. Panneerselvam since he is the elected Chief Minister of the state and dismissed the 'Sasikala for CM' campaign as “internal problems” of the AIADMK in which neither the Centre nor the BJP would interfere.
